Settlers was formed in 2010 by Brady Jennings, Tim Gagnon, and Adam Taylor of Brooklyn band Yorba Linda and Sam Dye of the heavy psychedelic band Primitive Skin. The four met working as bike messengers in New York City and came together in order to create a modern folk rock sound combined with elements of medieval and bluegrass music.
